When you just can’t Handel metadata rules.
The composer role is for when you want to credit the person who wrote the track. It should not be used for covers – please don’t credit the original artist of a track you’re covering as a composer.
The composer role can be used for someone who’s also playing on the track, but it’s more often used for crediting a composer who isn’t performing on the release; e.g. someone has written a musical that’s being performed by other performers.
Please note – the composer role must be used if your release contains classical music.
You can add a composer when creating your release by…
- Tapping on ‘Add Artist‘
- Selecting ‘Composer‘
- Insert the composer’s name
- Job done!
